Redoutable's last stand by trafalgarhero
Redoutable's last stand
Last moments of the French 80 gunner Redoutable (center) in the Battle of Trafalgar. Surrounding her are the HMS Victory (center left), HMS Temeraire (center right) and HMS Neptune (behind). Far right is the Spanish Santisima Trinidad, dismasted, only fourth decker ship in the world, and to the far left, her fore topgallant missing, the San Agustin, captured later and burnt.

Redoutable was the ship with most losses at the battle, with 487 dead and 81 wounded, before surrendering to the Temeraire and the Victory. A musket shot, fired from the mizzentop of the Redoutable, would kill admiral Nelson. Her commander, captain Lucas, was taken prisoner and praises by the British for his courage.

Battle of Quiberon Bay by trafalgarhero
Battle of Quiberon Bay
1759, Quiberon Bay. A task force of 24 ships of the line under British Admiral Sir Edward Hawke dispersed a force of 21 French ships. Part of the Seven Years war, this battle is considered the "Trafalgar of his time" and resulted in one the most important British naval victories of all times. In the picture, HMS Resolution fights the French 80 gunner Formidable, which resulted in the surrender of the later.

Based on a painting by Nicholas Pocock (1812), trying a different pencil technique.

Calavera Catrina by trafalgarhero
Calavera Catrina
Halloween 2014. A "Calavera Catrina" (Dandy Skull), a Mexican tradition started by engraver Jose Guadalupe Posadas and muralist Diego Rivera. It takes its origin from the Mexican upper crust people obsessed with fashion and status of the Pre-Revolutiary Era under president Porfirio Diaz (1876-1910).  Makeup designed by me.
(Model is former girlfriend, so please, out of respect, do not use this image).

I had a looksee through your gallery, and you've got some really nice sailing ships there. I particularly like the various weathering effects you got going with these models and there's some very impressive detail work on a lot of them (though I suspect they look even better in person). Keep up with the good work. :)
