SMS Scharnhorst

In progress project of SMS Scharnhorst, a WWI german heavy cruiser. Her brilliaint, yet short career, which included defeating the Royal Navy at the Battle of Coronel and the bombing of the Indian city of Pondicherry ended in 1916, when she was sunk along her sister ship, the Gneisenau at the Falklands Islands.

The model is totally scratchbuilt, styrene planks over a MDF frame. Brass cannons and propellers, resin cast anchors, steel railing and wooden deck made out of individual planks. She still needs a lot of work; masts, lifeboats, deck cranes, secondary guns.
