Check your copy of Jules Verne's "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea".  He has Nemo bring the "Nautilus" to the wreck of the "Vengeur du Peuple" and give a very stirring account of the famous sea battle.  Immediately afterwards his submarine is fired on by another warship (we later figure out it was a British warship).  He refuses to have the attacking ship mix it's wreckage with the "Avenger", and leads it away (it is following him and firing).  Then when far enough away, he turns the Nautilus around, and rams and sinks the attacking warship (much to the dismay of Professor Aronnax, Ned Land, and Conseil, who witness the sinking).
